The Family Concierge Model

At Journey Autism and Behavioral Care Centers, we understand that the path to receiving ABA services can be daunting, and we want to make the process as easy as possible. Our goal is to create a true partnership with Journey Autism Centers’ families from the first call through beginning services with us and beyond. This means we actively work with our families to help them navigate the process and assist in any way we can. This might mean helping you track down missing documents or it might mean helping your family locate additional services in your community. If our services in Massachusetts or Florida may not be the best fit for your child, we will help you find someone who can help. We believe that building lasting collaboration and partnerships with our families is the key to success for our clients and is at the heart of our family concierge model.

How to Get Started

1. Contact our intake team

The first step to initiating services is to contact our intake team. Our intake team will assist you with collecting required documents from your physician and verify your benefits for ABA coverage through your insurance carrier. We know that getting started is often very stressful, so our goal is that you work with the same intake coordinator throughout the process so they are familiar with your family. We will also request authorization from your insurance company to initiate the assessment for ABA services.

2. Schedule intake interview

Once our intake team receives all required paperwork and we have located a provider to work with your child, a member of our leadership team will reach out to schedule an intake meeting with you. During this meeting, we will ask questions about your child, your concerns, and goals for ABA therapy, as well as finalize your availability for services. We will also provide you with several important surveys and questionnaires to facilitate the assessment process. The initial intake meeting is a great time for you to ask questions about our approach and our leadership team is happy to address all of your concerns.

3. Participate in Initial Assessment

Once we collect all of the clinical information from you, the lead BCBA will schedule the initial assessment with you. The initial assessment includes 2-3 appointments where your BCBA gathers additional information from you and observes your child. This is a very important step in the process, as the initial assessment serves as the foundation for development of the treatment plan, including how many hours per week the behavior team will need to work with your child to help them reach their goals. Your child’s BCBA will complete a written report summarizing their findings and recommendations from the initial assessment, which will be reviewed with you. This document is then submitted to your insurance carrier for approval.

4. Begin ABA Services

Once the treatment plan and associated recommendations for ABA services have been approved by your insurance carrier, we will begin active services for your child. In most cases, a Behavior Technician, or BT, will provide direct therapy to your child and will be working on ABA programs designed by your child’s BCBA. Your child’s BCBA will provide supervision to the BT, make any treatment changes that are needed to help your child make progress towards their goals, and will work with you to provide education and support along the way.”
