Frequently Asked Questions About Our Services
What are the requirements to receive services?
The requirements to receive services include a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) made by a licensed physician or psychologist and a copy of the most recent diagnostic evaluation. If you need assistance with how to have your loved one evaluated, please contact us and our Family Support Team will walk you through the process.
How do I get an evaluation for ASD?
Contact your pediatrician or make an appointment with a provider who is experienced with providing evaluations for autism spectrum disorder (ASD), such as a developmental pediatrician, psychiatrist, or neurologist. The diagnosing provider will conduct a thorough evaluation to determine whether the individual meets the established criteria for an ASD diagnosis. Our Family Support Team can assist you with finding a provider in your area.
What age range do you treat?
The typical client age range for clients at Journey ABA is five to 21 years, though we do provide treatment for many younger and older clients. Further, we provide treatment for as long as our clients need, as we do not impose age limits on our clients.
What do ABA services cost and am I covered by insurance?
In most cases, ABA services are funded through private and state funded insurance plans. We understand that navigating your insurance coverage can be challenging, and we want to help. Give our Family Support Team a call and we will do a full benefits check to help you understand what your insurance covers.
Which insurances do you accept?
Journey ABA accepts a variety of insurance plans, including Medicaid. Call us at 844.222.4513 and we will help you understand your benefits and discuss any additional programs you may qualify for.
I don’t have insurance. Do you accept private pay?
Yes, Journey ABA accepts private pay agreements. When you call our team, we can help you access services no matter your method of payment.
What kind of training do behavior technicians receive?
We dedicate significant time and financial resources to training at onboarding and then ongoing professional development to ensure our staff stay current on the newest practices in our field. Our behavior technicians (BTs) complete a 40-hour Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training program and access to ongoing training and supervision throughout their employment.
What type of background checks are done on your employees?
All of our employees undergo a thorough screening process, including: national, state, and local criminal screening, a DOJ sex offender screening, and a drug screen prior to hire.
How does a BCBA create a treatment plan?
Our BCBAs work collaboratively with the family to create a treatment plan. After completing the intake process, one of our BCBAs will schedule an interview with the family, observe your child in the home or other settings, and conduct a variety of assessments that identify both strengths and skill deficits. The treatment plans we create often address communication, social, self-help, and play skills in addition to reducing interfering behaviors such as aggression, self-injurious behavior, property destruction, or pica.
How soon can I begin receiving services?
Once a treatment plan is completed, it is then sent to the insurance company for review and authorization. Once we receive treatment authorization, services will begin.
How often will we see the BCBA?
Most families will see their BCBA weekly. The BCBA will oversee the training and supervision of the behavior technician. In addition, the BCBA provides family coaching. Our BCBAs work with the family as a complete entity, not just the child.
What are your COVID-19 procedures and precautions?
We follow strict COVID-19 precautions in accordance with current local, state, and federal guidelines. We may modify COVID-19 precautions in response to changes in prevalence rates or regulations.
